Chackmore – Stowe Corinithian Arch – Dadford – Silverstone – Chackmore

Start Time: Sunday 10 November 2019. Meet at 09.45 am for 10.00 am start.

Start and Finish: Chackmore – postcode MK18 5JJ. Free car parking is available on the left after you turn off Stowe Avenue into the hamlet of Chackmore.  This  circular walk takes us around the outside of the Stowe Estate on generally easy, gently undulating footpaths with views across the Stowe Estate, designed in part by Capability Brown. We walk through the village of Dadford, passing close by Wolfes Obelisk, on a straight avenue towards the Silverstone circuit. We return along slight ridge with views over Northamptonshire before descending back into Stowe.  At the end there will be an opportunity to enjoy refreshments in the Stowe National Trust café.

Getting there from Aylesbury – (Approx. 15 miles): Take the A413 from Aylesbury to Buckingham, and into Buckingham centre. Follow NT signs for Stowe, first exit at mini roundabout but keep going straight. Turn right onto Stowe Avenue, and right to Chackmore near top of Stowe Avenue. Parking is immediately on your left.

 Getting There from Oxford : (Approx. 26 miles):  Head towards Bicester and then take A4412 towards Buckingham, then at Finmere Bypass take A421 towards Buckingham. At the 4th roundabout, the only one with traffic lights and Tesco on your right, take the first exit towards the town centre. Follow NT signs for Stowe, first exit at mini roundabout but keep going straight.  Turn right onto Stowe Avenue, and right to Chackmore near top of Stowe Avenue. Parking is immediately  on your left.
