Start Time: Sunday 13th March 2022. Meet at 09.45 am for 10.00 am start.
Start and Finish: Car Park behind Lions of Bledlow pub, grid ref. SP778022, postcode HP27 9PE where we will gather to set off. Off-road parking is also available along the road just beyond the Lions of Bledlow.
Pretty walk starting off from Lions of Bledlow pub up onto the Ridgeway and into beechwoods. In Great Wood we get a wonderful view across the Vale of Aylesbury and then on through Sunley Wood and Crowell Wood. We pass through village of Bennett End and continue to 12th century Radnage Church. We then return via Lodge Hill to Bledlow. With current weather we may expect some mud on paths! For those opting to take a shorter walk of 5.5 miles, arrange to leave cars at St. Mary the Virgin Church, Radnage, postcode HP14 4DU where there is some space on the left in the short lane to the lych gate of the church.

Getting there from Aylesbury – approx 11.5 miles (20 mins): Take A413 towards Wendover. At Stoke Mandeville turn right towards Princes Risborough on A4010. At Little Kimble turn right onto B4009 towards Chinnor and turn left on to West Lane at a sign for the pub The Lions of Bledlow, postcode HP27 9PE.
Getting There from Oxford : approx 21 miles (40 mins) miles: From Headington Roundabout take slight left onto A40. Merge onto M40. Exit M40 at junction 6 and follow B4009 towards Princes Risborough and turn right on to West Lane and follow sign for the pub The Lions of Bledlow, postcode HP27 9PE.
Waypoints – Start: take diagonal left across field and right uphill on track. Beyond cottage continue up through Nature Reserve and Great Wood. Pass old chalk pits to permissive path and several turns to reach Hilltop Lane & turn left. Short road walk to right turn towards Spriggs Alley. Downhill through Sunley Wood and straight on to Venus Wood. In Spriggs Alley hamlet track to Crowell Hill Farm. Several turns to track Colliers Lane. Follow valley bottom to Bennett End. Left on lane past the Mash Inn (gastropub!). To Town End Road and path across fields to Radnage Church – finish for 5.3 mile walkers.
Continue – exit back of churchyard across meadow. Veer uphill into Yoesden Bank Nature Reserve. Wheel right along edge of wood, at top keep straight to road at Bledlow Ridge. Take track opposite, keep ahead over meadow. After several turns rejoin the Ridgeway towards Lodge Hill. Cross road at Wigans Lane following field edge. Turn left at Icknield Way and 30m take track on right to return to Lions of Bledlow – finish for 9.3 mile walkers.
