This is a wonderful walk around the outskirts of Wallingford and along the Thames River Footpath that includes a visit to the grave of the ‘Cholsey Crime Queen’ Agatha Christie (1890 -1976), St. Mary’s Church, Cholsey. There are several pubs and cafes in Wallingford.

Getting there from Aylesbury – approx 24 Miles: A 418 towards Thame. Follow A329 over the M40 and follow to Shillingford. Join the A4074 to Wallingford Town Centre. Turn right at junction with Waitrose on your left and after 200 yards turn left into Goldsmiths Lane long stay car park. Postcode OX10 0DS.
Getting There from Oxford : approx 13 miles: Follow the A40 or A34 onto the Southern ring A 4142 around Oxford, follow signs for Sandford on Thames, Nuneham Courtenay and Shillingford on the A4074 to Wallingford Town Centre. Turn right at junction with Waitrose on your left and after 200 yards turn left into Goldsmiths Lane long stay car park – Postcode OX10 0DS.
Waypoints – Start: St Mary le More & All Hallows Church in Town Square & Town Hall. Follow the High Street in the direction of Crowmarsh Gifford cross bridge over the Thames. Turn right after 80 yards following signs for ‘Ridgeway & Grims Ditch’ GR 613894. Follow footpath and concrete farm track towards Newnham Farm GR 611885 and visit St Mary’s Church at Newnham Murren. Continue on footpath to A4130 and follow pavement to a bridge over the Thames GR 610882.Turn right and follow the Thames path under the A4130 road bridge. Follow riverbank to a sign indicating Cholsey railway station GR 601855. Turn right on track and follow to A329. Cross into Papist Way and pass the Morning Star PH. Continue through Cholsey and cross Station Road into West End and onto Sandy Point GR583863.Pass under Cholsey & Wallingford railway. Follow footpath to St Mary’s Church GR 583870. Follow the Cholsey & Wallingford railway, cross the A4130 and approach Winterbrook. Re-join the Thames at GR608886. Pass the boat house, and onward to St. Leonards Church, and following the ‘Thames Path’ signs to St Peters Church. Return to Town Centre. Finish
